Tesla; While it is struggling to increase its sales in the first half of 2025 in the European market, it is facing the exact opposite situation in Turkey. The company, which is only present in the Turkish market with its Model Y vehicle, left all automobile brands behind in June and became the owner of the best-selling model.
Tesla exceeded expectations in the Turkish market
7,235 Model Y units were sold in Turkey in June. The company, which sold 2,670 units in the same month last year, showed an increase of 170 percent on an annual basis. The monthly increase is at the level of 368 percent. Tesla sold a total of 9,000 vehicles in Turkey in the second quarter of the year. The total sales figure for the first six months reached 12,320.
The picture is much more fragmented in Europe. Although Model Y sales increased in countries such as Norway and Spain, there were serious declines in important markets such as France, Italy, Sweden and Denmark. In Norway, Tesla sold 5,646 vehicles, up 54 percent compared to the same month last year, while in Spain, Model Y sales increased by 127.2 percent to 2,632 units.
However, in Sweden, sales fell by 64.4 percent to 976 units, and in Denmark, they fell by 61.6 percent to 1,155 units. In France, although 3,646 vehicles were sold, there was a 10 percent decrease compared to the previous year. The decrease rate in Italy was 66 percent.
A similar trend is also striking in Tesla’s home country, the United States. It is estimated that approximately 46,000 vehicles were sold in June. However, this figure is 16 percent lower than the same period last year. In the first half of the year, the decrease in total sales was measured as 12 percent.
The downward trend in Tesla deliveries continues globally in the second quarter. Analysts say the company may have delivered around 390,000 vehicles in the quarter ending in June. This figure indicates a decrease of over 11 percent on an annual basis.
Tesla’s decline is due to factors such as CEO Elon Musk’s political rhetoric, which has caused a rift with some consumer groups, and the rapid increase in competition. The company’s failure to make any radical innovations in its product line for a long time is also considered among the reasons for the decline in sales.
